Tyrimai rodo, kad vaikų turinčios moterys, palyginti su jų neturinčiomis, dažniau patiria intymaus partnerio smurtą ir jis yra intensyvesnis. Taip pat kad jos patiria smurtą ne tik dėl savo kaip moters, bet ir dėl savo kaip motinos tapatybės. Todėl net ir politikoje naudojama lyčiai jautri konceptualizacijos sistema negarantuoja, kad į joms kylančius iššūkius bus deramai atsižvelgta. Tokiu atveju svarbiu veiksniu tampa šiai moterų grupei numatytos specialios apsaugos nuo smurto priemonės ir tai, kaip konstruojamas socialinės politikos diskursas. Taikant kritinės diskurso analizės metodą, straipsnyje tiriami Lietuvos socialinėje politikoje įtvirtinti lūkesčiai dėl intymaus partnerio smurtą patiriančių moterų motinystės. Tyrimas atskleidė, kad Lietuvos socialinės politikos kaita ir diskurso pokyčiai intymaus partnerio smurtą patiriančių motinų padėtį blogina – sumenkinami joms kylantys iššūkiai, nuvertinamas jų indėlis prižiūrint vaikus ir apsunkinama galimybė vaduotis iš smurtinių santykių.
