This article examines the impact that sanctions have on Russia’s actions in space. This work aims to consider the space cooperation between the United States of America, the European Union and Russia, outline the scope and types of imposed sanctions following the war in Ukraine and their (in)direct impact on Russia’s space sector. As the West imposed sanctions on various goods necessary for development of the space industry and aims to break off partnership with Russia in the space industry, a shift in intergovernmental space relations is observed. Hence, Russia is forced to look for new ways to maintain its power.
