Focus and scope. The journal gives preference to historical, comparative and typological research on Baltic languages and their dialects, questions dealing with the ties between Baltic languages and other languages, and historiography of Baltic linguistics. Baltistica publishes scientific discussions of Baltic linguists, reviews of the newest works on Baltic linguistics, as well as information on Baltic linguistic research being done around the world. Since 2006 the journal has focused more attention on synchronic research of modern Baltic languages, including experimental, comparative and applied works. The journal publishes the following:
- synchronic and diachronic articles about Baltic languages and their relation with other languages, especially Indo-European languages;
- typological and applied linguistics articles related to Baltic languages;
- publications devoted to the history of Baltic linguistics;
- reviews of publications on Baltic languages;
- information on scientific conferences and other events.
Publication frequency: One volume of the journal is published annually, which consists of two fascicles. The first fascicle is published in September, while the second is published in December.
Languages. The journal accepts articles in Lithuanian, Latvian, English, German, French, and Russian.
Charges. The journal does not charge article processing charges or submission charges.

History. Baltistica is an international journal of Baltic linguistics which was founded in large part due to the efforts of Vilnius University Professor Jonas Kazlauskas in 1965. The journal is compiled by the Department of Baltic Studies of Vilnius University, and published by Vilnius University Press (until 1973 the journal was compiled by the Department of Lithuanian Language, and was published until 1992 by Mintis Publishing House and Mokslas Publishing House). Jonas Kazlauskas (1965-1970) and Vytautas Mažiulis (1970-1996) served previously as editors. Bonifacas Stundžia (1996- present) is the journal’s current editor. The journal features articles written in Lithuanian, Latvian, English, German, French and Russian by Baltic linguists from all over the world.
