Founded in 1965. The journal gives preference to historical, comparative and typological research on Baltic languages and their dialects, questions dealing with the ties between Baltic languages and other languages, and historiography of Baltic linguistics. Baltistica publishes scientific discussions of Baltic linguists, reviews of the newest works on Baltic linguistics, as well as information on Baltic linguistic research being done around the world. Since 2006 the journal has focused more attention on synchronic research of modern Baltic languages, including experimental, comparative and applied works. More about the journal in About the Journal.

Editorial Evaluation Timeline
We read and evaluate every submission, and we try our best to get back to you quickly. We are mindful of how long it can take to publish a paper, so we work with authors and reviewers to minimise that time. Here’s how long each step in the process usually takes:
- Decision after review: 3–4 weeks after submission
- Anticipated timeframe for suggested revisions: 2–3 months (with flexibility if needed)
- Time to publication: Within 3-5 months of acceptance.
